Comparison of different types of degradable materials

Type of Material
Regular polyethylene (PE)
100% biodegradable polypropylene with TDPA additives
Starch-based biodegradable material
Type of degradation
Decomposable & 100% biodegradable
Details of degradation
Not degradable
The specified environment conditions (heat or light), after a certain period of time led to a significant material change in the chemical structure of the loss of certain properties (e.g. integrity, molecular weight, structure, mechanical properties), long molecules break into small molecules, and these small elements will be biodegradable.
Under the natural environment such as soil, sand for compost, the material is decomposed into CO2, H2O and biomass by microorganism, e.g. bacterial, fungi and algae.
Time of degradation
It does not degrade in 100 years
The plastic degrades into fragments within 12 to 36 months with the effect of oxygen, light, heat and pressure. Then the fragments are converted into CO2 and H2O by the microorganisms.
Biodegradation of more than 90% in 180 days.
